Two Comal ISD Athletes Medal in Powerlifting, 14 Qualify for State

April 30, 2024 - Two Comal ISD athletes brought home medals at the state 4A powerlifting meet this spring earning a silver and bronze, and 14 qualified for state in the sport which is growing in popularity.

Athletes from four campuses represented the district at both the 4A and 5A powerlifting state meets. A list of the state qualifiers is included below.

Both medalists were from Davenport High School with Frances Vega earning the silver medal and Katie Falcone earning the bronze.

Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift.

-Two athletes from Pieper High School qualified for state competition in powerlifting and were recognized by the Comal ISD Board of Trustees at the April 25 meeting.
